Zoe's journey began when she was presenting herself as Zarf, a world famous rock star. Fusion Cosmetics reps, Babe Chandler and Josh Madden, were trying to acquire Zarf's song "Flash In The Pan" to use in an ad campaign. "You have thirty seconds to make me fall in love with you, or you can both piss off," Zarf said as he walked into his hotel suite. Fortunately, Babe turned out to be a kindred spirit and totally won him over with her feisty charm. They had a deal.

A few months later Zarf came to Pine Valley in search of Babe. He needed his soul mate because something very big was weighing him down emotionally. Little did Babe know the huge secret her friend had been hiding. But Babe was dealing with her own personal drama at the time and Zarf could sense she wasn't ready to take on another's problems, so he decided to leave. Just as he was about to get on the elevator...

...a beautiful woman was about to step out. Zarf was completely captivated. "Who is this magnificent creature?" he breathed before dropping to his knee to kiss her hand. Bianca Montgomery was a bit startled. Zarf lavished her with unwanted attention, causing her to run away as fast as possible.

Catching up with Bianca, Zarf proceeded to tell her, "The moment I saw you it was like being struck by lightning." It was love at first sight for him and he surprised her with a kiss. But Bianca, as flattered as she was, explained that there was no future for them because she's a lesbian--not attracted to men. The second lightning strike--an epiphany! Zarf told her she had illuminated much more than she knew.

Over the next month, Bianca and Zarf became pretty good friends. Zarf kept eluding to some secret he had and Bianca was curious. He promised to tell her when the time was right. At one point Zarf begged her to look past his body and into his soul as he went to kiss her again. Bianca confessed she did feel moved by his kiss. "You don't know how monumental this is...but you will," he said.

After a lengthy talk about families and coming out of the closet, Bianca thought Zarf might secretly be gay. He told her it wasn't that simple. He knew she was attracted to him and didn't know why. "When you know the answer to that, you'll know my secret..."
